Company History
What began in 1932 as the county's first hospital located in a converted 21-bed hotel is now a 335-bed regional medical center with all private rooms located on 80 acres. From a small X-ray machine over 77 years ago to our new 64-slice CT scanner, Indian River Medical Center and the great people of the connunity have consistently invested to ensure excellent care.
Indian River Medical Center is home to The Heart Center, Behavioral Health Center, Cancer Center, Joint Implant Center, Stroke Center, Wound healing Center and many other services designed to meet the medical and healthcare needs for residents of and visitors to the growing Treasure and Space Coasts and Central Florida region.
New to the campus is The Heart Center. With new operating rooms and extrordinary physicians, and the medical center's expanded lab and diagnostic imaging capabilities, The Heart Center has received one of the few affiliate designations granted by Duke University Health System. Expected to perform hundreds of open heart surgeries each year, The Heart Center gives residents a level of emergency and ongoing heart care that is unmatched in the region.
Indian River Medical center is the county's only not-for-profit hospital and is supported by the generosity of the community through gifts to the Indian River Medical Center Foundation.
Starting our 77th year we are forever newer and improved. A new vision. A new heart center affiliation with Duke University Health System. New techlology and new facilities. Of course the one thing that is not new is the compassionate care we give to all those in the communities we serve.
