Mid-Columbia Medical Center is a highly progressive, 49-bed Planetree hospital and has become renowned as a one-of-a-kind center of healing, a place different from what most expect of a community hospital. Mid-Columbia Medical Center was the first hospital in the world to implement the Planetree philosophy of patient-centered care facility wide and incorporates an array of complementary and integrative therapies for treating the whole person… mind, body and spirit. The National Planetree Organization recently honored MCMC as a model site. On-site services such as the Celilo Cancer Center, the Center for Mind/Body Medicine, Visiting Physician Services and the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center offer maximum convenience to the members of our local community.
The Dalles, Oregon is located in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, surrounded by abundant recreational opportunities and breathtaking scenery. The Gorge is renowned for world-class skiing, wind-surfing, hiking, biking, kayaking and fishing. The Dalles is home to approximately 15,000 residents and has a diverse economic base which has provided a very stable economy over the years with a high quality of life. Compared to Portland, more than 300 days of sunshine each year are enjoyed here which supports the large cherry and fruit grower industries. Over 20 vineyards and wineries dot the landscape and the many national and state parks and waterfalls lend to exceptional outdoor activities. A variety of festivals, music, art and theatre opportunities are never far, no matter what the season. The Dalles is approximately one hour east of Portland.
Company History
Mid-Columbia Medical Center has been accredited by the Joint Commission, a private, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting quality healthcare services. This voluntary accreditation signifies that the hospital's efforts to provide highest-quality healthcare have received professional and national recognition through stringent evaluation and consultation from the Joint Commission.
For nearly 15 years, Mid-Columbia Medical Center has been affiliated with the Planetree Alliance, a group of innovative hospitals and healthcare institutions who are dedicated to implementing innovative programs to personalize, humanize and demystify the healthcare experience for patients and their families. Mid-Columbia was the first Alliance affiliate to adopt and embrace, hospital-wide, Planetree's philosophy of patient-centered care. Considered an exemplary model of Planetree, Mid-Columbia is one of the few affiliates to have incorporated all nine components of the Planetree vision into its facility.
Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
In June 1992, Mid-Columbia Medical Center became the first hospital in the world to implement the Planetree philosophy of patient-centered care facility wide.
In 2007, MCMC was honored with the Designated Planetree Patient-Centered Hospital designation from Planetree, Inc. It is the only Oregon hospital to have met the stringent criteria developed by Planetree to distinguish those hospitals nationwide doing the most advanced work in patient-centered care.
Modern Maturity magazine named Mid-Columbia Medical Center as one of 15 U.S. Hospitals with Heart.
Mid-Columbia Medical Center was named as one of seven Oregon companies to demonstrate outstanding commitment to families and community.
