Company Overview
The Pa Trauma Systems Foundation is the accrediting body for trauma centers in Pennsylvania. We are a 501c3 organization whose mission is to provide optimal care for injured patients throughout the Commonwealth of PA regardless of location. We do that through education, research, and the accreditation process. Every trauma center in Pennsylvania submits data to our statewide trauma registry on every trauma patient that meets our criteria. This data is used for research, accreditation and performance improvement activities. Pennsylvania is considered one of the most mature and advanced trauma systems in the country. The quality of our trauma registry is unparalleled due to our ongoing efforts to assure quality data abstraction and ongoing education.

Company History
The Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation was created by the combined efforts of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (formerly the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania) along with the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (formerly the Pennsylvania Nurses Association), the Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council, and the Pennsylvania Department of Health
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania first recognized the Foundation in December 1984 when Act 209 was signed into law by Governor Thornburgh. Act 209 expired in June 1985. A comprehensive Emergency Medical Service Act (Act 45) was signed into law in July 1985, which again recognized the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation and established its mandate.
Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
There are currently 30 accredited trauma centers in Pennsylvania out of 175 hospitals. Eight additional hospitals are pursuing accreditation.
Benefits
1. Vacation 15 days per year, 20 days after 5 years of employment. Maximum accumulation: 15 days first 5 years, 20 days after 5 years.
2. Holidays 8 paid holidays, plus 3 personal holidays.
3. Sick Leave 12 days per year. 5 of the 12 days may be used for family illness. Maximum accumulation - 120 days.
4. Health Care/Hospitalization – Capital Blue Cross employee coverage is paid by the Foundation. Partial Coverage for families is available. Coverage begins the first day of employment.
5. Dental Insurance Employee coverage is paid by the Foundation. Option to cover dependents/spouse at employee expense. Coverage begins the first of the month following employment.
6. Group Term Life Insurance Coverage is paid by the Foundation and begins the first of the month following employment. Coverage amount is 300% of your annual salary.
7. Long Term Disability Insurance This coverage provides for partial replacement of lost income resulting from periods of total disability. Coverage begins 90 days after disability. The total benefit will not exceed 60% of monthly earnings. Premiums are paid by the Foundation.
8. Travel Insurance While traveling on Foundation business, each employee is insured under the travel insurance plan paid by the Foundation in the amount of $200,000.
9. Educational Tuition Assistance The Foundation will pay 100% of an employee's tuition for a completed program of study in a work related area.
10. Travel Expenses All travel expenses, except commuting, associated with Foundation business is reimbursable.
11. Jury Duty, Funeral Leave and Military Training The Foundation provides customary time off.
12. Vision Care Plan – This coverage is provided by NVA Vision through Health America. See benefits manual for allowances. Employee coverage is paid by the Foundation. Coverage for families is available for a minimal co-payment.
13. Health and Fitness Program Reimbursement up to $200.00 annually for individual health club or fitness center expenses.
